History

The Trafunshof was mentioned at Fié allo Sciliar for the first time in AD 1526. From the farmers story from Fiè allo Sciliar about our farm we find out, that the first owner of the ranch and of a Moulin (so named Trafunzer) was Hans Trafunzer. Then, for a long time the farm was possessed of wealthy persons. This persons did not worked their field by their own, but rent them the until AD 1897 to other farmers. Only that particular year the Trafunshof found a new buyer. In AD 1913 finally Karl Mahlknecht (from Kaschelehof at San Costantino) the great grandfather of Mahlknecht Iwan has had the opportunity to buy the farm. In AD 1926 he bequeath the ranch to his son Karl Mahlknecht, which continued the business together with his wife Maria. In AD 1964 Karl Mahlknecht gave the farm to his unique son Josef Mahlknecht.

Since AD 2009 the farm is in property by his son Mahlknecht Iwan and his wife Alexandra.

The Trafunshof is a “closed farm”, what means he can never be fractioned and can only be passed on at a whole one. The Tyrolean county rules (from AD 1525) forbid the real parting to guarantee the assurance and continuity of the farms and of the rural families.

The farm embrace today a farmstead (house and stable), 13 ha meadow and alpine pastures, 2 alpine stables and forest. At our farm we take care of horses and expect every year a couple of fillies.
